Brief History

Al Wafi Zakat Service Unit is an organization responsible for managing zakat under the supervision of BAZNAS (National Zakat Agency) in Depok City, founded in Muharram 1446 H / August 2024.

UPZ Al Wafi was established out of an awareness of the significant potential of ZISWAF (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf) within the extended Al Wafi Foundation family and its partners. Recognizing this potential, K.H. Dr. Ali Saman Hasan, Lc., LL.B., MA., the foundation director, initiated the formation of UPZ Al Wafi as a commitment to managing and empowering zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf resources for the benefit of the community.

Operating under the Al-Sudais Indonesia Foundation, UPZ Al Wafi is committed and focused on six program pillars designed to foster community self-sufficiency. These six pillars include:

Mission
Mission of the Zakat Service Unit

  • To fully develop the potential benefits of ZIS (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah) and CSR through strategic programs.
  • To collaborate with both domestic and international partners and actively participate in improving the quality of zakat management institutions.
  • To implement zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and CSR governance policies in accordance with Sharia principles and the regulations of the Republic of Indonesia.

Baitul Maal Al Wafi

Refers to an Islamic institution responsible for managing community assets, particularly related to the collection and distribution of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf.

Al Wafi Amanah

An Arabic term meaning trust or responsibility, to be carried out with integrity and honesty. In philanthropy, 'Amanah' reflects the credibility and integrity of UPZ Al Wafi, establishing it as a transparent and impactful zakat management organization for the community.

Al Wafi Charity

Refers to charitable activities and providing assistance to those in need. The concept of charity here is broader than just zakat or sadaqah, encompassing various forms of donations and social aid, including CSR contributions from institutions aimed at community empowerment.

Al Wafi lil Khoirot

Indicates that UPZ Al Wafi is a committed zakat and social institution that manages ZISWAF and CSR funds through beneficial, innovative, and strategic empowerment programs, striving to bring about extensive good and community empowerment.
