Depok, July 21, 2024 – The welcoming day at Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School was not only filled with greetings and introductions, but also enlivened by a captivating science experiment demonstration. Three female students confidently presented a “Volcano Reaction” experiment in front of the new students and invited guests.
Using fluent English and Arabic, they explained the chemical reaction involved and related it to natural volcanic phenomena. The new students who volunteered to participate in the demonstration were visibly enthusiastic, eagerly following each step of the experiment.
The chemical reaction produced foam that resembled volcanic lava, adding to the excitement and fascination of the demonstration. One of the students then recited Surah Al-Muzzammil, verse 14, which vividly describes the tremendous shaking of the earth and mountains on the Day of Judgment:
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الْاَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيْبًا مَّهِيْلًا
“On the Day when the earth and mountains will shake violently, and the mountains will become like heaps of shifting sand.”
This science experiment demonstration not only entertained the audience but also provided valuable lessons on scientific principles and the greatness of Allah’s creations. The students showcased their knowledge in both religious studies and their interest and talent in the field of science.
Their courage and skill in presenting the experiment in two foreign languages also reflected the high quality of education at Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School. The school aims to cultivate not only morally upright individuals but also intelligent, well-rounded students ready to face global challenges.
