Cibubur, August 14, 2024 – A remarkable gathering took place at the Main Field of the Cibubur Camping Ground in East Jakarta, where 12,000 members of the Scout Movement from Jakarta and surrounding areas convened to commemorate the 63rd Scout Day. The ceremony was officiated by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the National Council of the Scout Movement.
Among the attendees was the Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School Scout Movement, who joined thousands of other members in this significant national event. The enthusiasm and spirited participation of Al Wafi Scouts reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing a generation of youth embodying the principles of Pancasila while fostering a spirit of unity to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This aligns with the theme of the ceremony: “Scouts with Pancasila Spirit Safeguarding the NKRI.”
From 07:20 AM WIB, members of the Scout Movement, including those from Al Wafi, filled the Buperta Cibubur area, creating a vibrant atmosphere with their flags and Scout attire. The National Chief Scout, retired Police Commissioner Budi Waseso, also greeted the participants, further boosting their morale during the ceremony.
Notably, this year’s commemoration set a historic precedent by including 100,000 Scout members nationwide who participated virtually, breaking the record for the largest Scout ceremony as recognized by the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).
The celebration of Scout Day served as a platform to strengthen national spirit and unity among Scout members and underscored the vital role of Scouts in educating resilient and character-driven youth. The participation of Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School in this event stands as a testament to their commitment to supporting the Scout Movement as a means of character development for young Indonesians imbued with nationalism.
