On October 22, 2024, Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School commemorated National Santri Day with a meaningful and solemn flag-raising ceremony. The event was attended by all students, teachers, and school staff as a tribute to the important role that santri (Islamic boarding school students) have played in the nation’s history and in upholding Islamic values.
Themed “Continuing the Struggle, Embracing the Future,” the ceremony proceeded smoothly on the school’s main field. The santri, dressed in traditional school uniforms, showed great enthusiasm as they participated in the event. The school leader, serving as the ceremony inspector, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to uphold Islamic values, honor good manners, and continuously learn and contribute to the nation’s progress.
In his speech, the Al Wafi school leader emphasized the importance of preparing santri to face future challenges while holding onto a strong tradition of scholarship and being open to technological advancements and modern developments. This ceremony also served as a moment of reflection for the students, honoring the contributions of Islamic scholars and warriors who have played a significant role in shaping civilization and preserving Indonesia’s unity.
