Bogor, October 7, 2023 | Inspiration for writing can come from anywhere. Aspiring writers should start with themes close to their daily lives. When facing a creative block, doing enjoyable activities can help revive energy and prevent burnout.
These insights were shared by Kirana Kejora during the “Through Words, Students Create” Story Writing Workshop at Campus A of Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The event, attended by 200 students and teachers, featured tips and strategies from Kirana on becoming a writerpreneur, from the creative process of storytelling to captivating the attention of publishers and producers.
For example, story plots don’t have to follow a straightforward, A-to-Z flow. Instead, the narrative can be like a complex puzzle, full of surprises. A single-page synopsis can convey the essence of the story. Achieving this requires thorough research, practicing catchy opening sentences to captivate readers, and crafting sentences that intrigue, charm, and engage the reader’s mind.
While honing these skills takes time, it’s never too early to start practicing storytelling. “Becoming a writerpreneur is only 20% talent; the rest is the will and courage to practice writing,” said Kirana, a writer with over a decade of experience in the field.
