In today’s era of globalization, the Islamic civilization faces challenges that threaten to dim its light. A strong Islamic generation must be nurtured. “The Golden Generation is a Generation of Tauhid, a generation raised to worship Allah and embody ihsan, striving to fulfill all obligations and sunnahs while avoiding prohibitions, so they remain steadfast amidst the tides of globalization,” stated Ustadz Dr. KH. Ali Saman Hassan, Lc., LL.B., MA.
Ustadz Ali introduced the term “Golden Generation of Islam” during a meeting with parents of 9th and 12th-grade students, held on September 17 at Masjid Nidaul Islam, Al-Wafi Complex, Sawangan, Depok. This meeting was aimed at presenting new programs launched by Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School.
The event began with an opening speech from Ustadz Ryan, Mudir Banin, who reassured parents that Al Wafi has prepared everything needed for their children’s educational journey. Discussions and preparations for students’ future university studies are managed by the BEKAL Bureau.
Following this, Ustadz Muhammad Asadullah, Mudir Banat, addressed the parents. “The 12th grade is a pivotal phase where students must decide their future paths, as this is a one-way journey forward, with no returning to previous stages,” he emphasized.
Al Wafi offers a comprehensive educational pathway from elementary school through to doctoral studies, part of its mission to shape an Islamic Golden Generation. Furthermore, Al Wafi has established an alumni association to track and support alumni success, making it clear that the pesantren remains involved in students’ lives beyond graduation.
One of the new programs presented was the Umrah Dauroh, which allows students to perform Umrah while experiencing Dauroh (intensive learning sessions) at universities in Saudi Arabia. Al Wafi also implements a student mapping program to guide students in identifying their interests and talents, helping them make informed choices when selecting university faculties.
In line with its mission, Al Wafi also introduced the Al Wafi Entrepreneur program, a forward-thinking initiative to nurture an Islamic Golden Generation capable of thriving in a globalized world. This program provides hands-on experience for students to start and manage businesses, with support from Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School. The meeting continued with presentations from the BEKAL Bureau, which focuses on guiding Al Wafi students in pursuing higher education in Indonesia or abroad.
Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School is a modern pesantren deeply committed to the growth of Islam in the globalization era, fostering a Golden Islamic Generation that remains rooted in Islamic principles. Al Wafi is ready to build a Golden Generation of Islamic Indonesia. “We do not reject globalization; instead, we use it as an educational tool for religion, the country, and especially for family,” Ustadz Ali concluded.
